In both my professional goals as a doctoral student at St. John's University and in my motivation as a tutor, I strive to provide help to others in my community with the best of my ability. I believe that effective tutoring is about developing a positive and personable relationship with my students, in order to best understand their needs and apply effective strategies. In my experience, the direct one-on-one aspect to tutoring is as much value to the student, as it is to the tutor himself.Primarily, my areas of expertise are in advanced mathematics such as calculus and algebra; though I am experienced at tutoring math in a broad range. Everything from math for admissions and entrance exams, as well as middle school assignments. I do a lot of work on test preparation which includes: Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE), High School Placement Test (HSPT), SAT Mathematics, and Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHS).I am sensitive to the importance of gaining full knowledge of one subject area before advancing to the next and I am careful to check in with students to make sure they are comfortable before moving to the next concept or topic. I very much enjoy being part of the educational tutoring community. When I am not assisting students, I am an active swimmer and enjoy baking.
